There is quite a story behind this picture of Jones Mountain.
It had been overcast with some rain showers throughout the afternoon in typical
Colorado monsoon season fashion, and I decided to see if I could get an interesting
photo of Jones Mountain, which I did.
Ah, but look closer at the photo: There is some fresh snow on that mountain! Snow on July 5!
Hee hee! I got kind of giddy at the prospect of photographing more snow upward
on Cottonwood Pass Road and drove to the summit. You can see my photos of the snow
accumulation in the high country forest and
all of the accompanying fog at this link:
